I know your pain. I finally got to the library to return the books and left one in the car so I went back. Then I got home and saw that I had one left in the car and went back again and swear to God, got home and my daughter said “what about this one?” and yup, she had another library book and back we went AGAIN.

Keeping things in perspective seems to be important in any situation. Your brother’s got a really good grasp on things–focus on the things he can do something about and accept the things beyond his control as best he can. Sounds a bit like the Alcoholics Anonymous motto, doesn’t it?
Interestingly we live in a world where more and more things seem within our power to control. There was a time when hair loss would have been not only irreversible but inevitable. Shampoos can slow it down and, by the way, there is such a thing as hair replacement therapy. Although if your brother’s looked into the side effects of hair replacement, or even the costs, he may have decided to accept the loss gracefully. I hope he doesn’t lose his job, but, if he does, I hope he accepts that just as gracefully…and finds a new one soon. And I hope the same for your now jobless relative.
